Tieria was alone in the house. Mikaela was still at the base with Apollo, and her mother was at work. Again. She worked far too hard.

He was waiting for Motoko in the living room. She had insisted on coming to see him, and seeing as she had even offered to allow him to remove the location information himself, he had allowed it. All there was to do now was wait.

As agreed, Ten had dropped her off where Tieria was. Remembering that he wouldn't have a way to link manually, she had an idea to bring her external memory device along with her. It was a last minute idea to use it as a possible method of diving around to find out what might be causing the problem and for him to access her cyberbrain easily.

Once Motoko stepped up to the door, she knocked on it with her free hand in the hopes that he was awake.

"The door's unlocked," he called out, switching off the TV. There was a small pang of worry as he wondered if it really was Motoko at the door.

Good, he was awake. She entered and soon found him in the living room. With a tiny smirk, she stood in the doorway with a hand on her hip.

"You don't normally let people walk right in the front door, do you?" she couldn't resist teasing him, in light of the circumstances that she was there for.

Tieria would have stood to meet her, but considering his situation, it would have been near impossible.

"I don't," he said, frowning. "But it's hard to open the door and manage the chair at the same time."

Right, a wheelchair would have made it difficult. She walked over to him and sat down nearby, setting down the external on her lap.

"Shall we get started?"

"What's that?" he asked, looking at the device.

"Since I can't link directly to you, I had an idea that maybe I could do a brain dive through my external memory device." She paused to tap it with her hand. "Typically, they're used for storing memories that I've accumulated over the years and I needed room for more recent information in my cyberbrain."

He stared at it.

"External... memory... device. ...hm." He reached out to touch it, somewhat disbelieving. "We don't have anything like that."

"I didn't think so. Though, if my theory holds true from what I remember of our past experience, you should have some measure of compatibility with it, one way or another."

She paused for moment, watching him as she bit into her thumb.

"Are you willing to try?"

"It's a lot of effort for us both for you to be here. If I'm not even going to try, then it's wasted," he said. "Besides, I'm not afraid of anything."

"Alright then, go ahead and try to connect with it."

She slid on a dummy barrier and plugged it into the external memory, linking her consciousness to every memory she had ever placed inside of it.
