My initial suspicions were incorrect. They are aging.

Nena came by this afternoon. She came to tell me that she had selected a birthday, and wanted me to start making preparations. And that's what got me thinking.

You can see it. You can see that she's almost a year older than when we first met her. You can see it in Michael, too.

I don't know what to think about this. For there to be such a critical difference, even just a single one, there is the high probability that there are more. That, in truth, they are something else entirely. They seem to be, for nearly all intents and purposes, normal human beings.

((OOC: if you're not sure if you're a close friend, just ask~))

Well, for instance, I have parents, but grew up almost never seeing them. That's not a normal situation no matter how you look at it. So I can never really be a normal person.

Would you say it had an effect on you?

Probably. It's hard to say, since I don't know what I would have been like otherwise. But even if it hadn't affected me, that would be strange in itself.

So, you would say that being affected by the absence of your parents is, in itself, a normal state. As such, wouldn't you argue that a person that lived in far worse circumstances would be normal for being unhappy, angry, or otherwise maladjusted? They would not be normal in comparison to other humans, but the very fact that they are affected by their situation would indicate that they were essentially "normal".

Not necessarily. Look at Azula, for example. She was born with firebending abilities, making her already unusual by our standards, but she's still noticeably affected by what her own life has been like, making her even stranger. It's not as if being normal is just a switch that turns on and off.

However, you would say that her mental functions are acting as expected, wouldn't you? That is, if she didn't act strangely in reaction to her unusual abilities and upbringing, you would say that it was peculiar.

Well, yes. But that doesn't change the end result.

You believe she is still an abnormal person.
